NEW YORK (March 29, 2025) – The reigning WNBA Champion New York Liberty have re-signed three-time WNBA Champion, three-time Olympic gold medalist, two-time WNBA MVP, two-time WNBA Finals MVP, six-time All-WNBA First Team, six-time WNBA All-Star, six-time All-Defensive Team selection, W25 honoree, and the fastest 5000-point scorer in league history, Breanna Stewart.

WASHINGTON, DC – WNBA Champion and two-time Most Valuable Player Elena Delle Donne has announced her retirement. She was part of the celebrated 2013 WNBA Draft class and was selected with the second overall pick by the Chicago Sky. Washington acquired Delle Donne before the 2017 WNBA season and by 2019, she led the team to its first Championship in franchise history. Delle Donne will now step away from the court but will stay close to the game. She’ll serve as a special advisor to Monumental Basketball.
“After much thought, conversations with family, and soul searching I have finally come to the decision to walk away from playing basketball,” announced Delle Donne. “It was amazing to look back on all the special teammates, friends, executives, sponsors, staff and most importantly the incredible fans that have accompanied me on this journey. In a career spanning 10 seasons, Delle Donne established her greatness by becoming the first player to earn MVP honors with two different franchises (Chicago Sky; 2015, Washington Mystics; 2019). In 2021, she was named to the WNBA’s 25 greatest and most influential players in league history as part of the WNBA’s 25th anniversary celebration. Additionally, she was a member of Team USA that captured gold during the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

A seven-time All-Star, Delle Donne set numerous milestones throughout her career. In the 2019 season, she became the first WNBA player to join the exclusive 50-40-90 club, a feat that still stands today. While leading the Mystics to their championship season, she helped the team set several franchise and, at that time, WNBA records: highest points per game average in franchise history (89.3), highest free throw percentage in a season in WNBA history (87.5), and most assists per game (21.9) in WNBA history.

She holds career averages of 19.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.4 blocks per game. Considered one of the best free throw shooters in basketball, Delle Donne finished her career with a free throw shooting percentage of 93.7% throughout her career.

The star forward has won three WNBA Championships, delivering the Sparks’ third and most recent WNBA Championship in 2016 and earning Finals Most Valuable Player honors. During her Sparks tenure, she was named WNBA MVP twice (2008, 2013), won 2020 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year, and was chosen as an All-Star five times. Sparks to Retire Legend Candace Parker’s No. 3 Jersey on June 29

NEW YORK, March 27, 2025 – The WNBA and its Changemaker Collective — AT&amp;T, CarMax, Deloitte, Google, and Nike — are deepening their commitment to keeping girls in the game through their community partnership with VOICEINSPORT (VIS), a women-founded digital platform dedicated to increasing access, visibility, and virtual mentorship for young girls in sport.  The WNBA Changemaker Collective mission is to use their collective network to elevate, advance, and economically empower underrepresented groups, girls and women through the power of sport.
The collaboration builds on the success of the first year of the partnership, which provided virtual mentorship for 50,000 girls. The continuation of the virtual mentorship and leadership initiative, along with additional components, is projected to double the impact, providing virtual mentorship for 100,000 girls by the end of year two. Through this innovative collaboration, young athletes will have unparalleled access to WNBA players, sports industry executives, and expert resources to keep them engaged in sports and set them up for success beyond the game.

Clark’s only challenge to her Rookie of the Year honor was double-double machine Angel Reese, who led the league in rebounding. Cloud was only with Phoenix for one season before getting traded to the Liberty, but her expectation was to<a href="https://x.com/DesertWaveCo/status/1888042256478917000"> retire a Mercury</a>. She even helped recruit Dallas star Satou Sabally to the Valley — only to be part of the trade to get Sabally. The Mercury are entering a new era. Diana Taurasi retired and Brittney Griner signed with Atlanta. Sabally, Thomas and Kahleah Copper lead the revolution in Phoenix.

Dallas’ No. 1 overall pick will presumably make her pro debut in Minnesota. The last time the Lynx faced the top pick, they let Clark score 25 points. This will also be a glimpse at lockdown defender DiJonai Carrington and All-Star MVP Arike Ogunbowale together in Dallas’ backcourt.
Los Angeles Sparks at Golden State Valkyries – Friday, May 16th, 10pm ET on ION
The Valkyries punctuate Opening Night in a hype debut of the league’s first expansion team in 17 years. Golden State — led by Tiffany Hayes, the 2024 Sixth Woman of the Year, and No. 1 expansion pick Kate Martin — take on a Sparks squad anchored by the 2024 2nd overall pick, Cameron Brink. Brink was in top consideration for Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year before her ACL tear, being the league’s second-best shotblocker.
Connecticut Sun at Atlanta Dream – Sunday, May 25th, 3pm ET on <a href="https://www.wnba.com/webview/leaguepass">League Pass</a>
Watch out for the big girls. Catch some of the W’s best posts in their new uniforms with 12-year Phoenix veteran Griner and eight-year Connecticut anchor Brionna Jones suiting up for the Dream against Tina Charles and the Sun. Jones will face her former team, while nine-time All-WNBA Charles rejoins the team that drafted her 17 seasons ago.

Save The Date: Key Games for the 2025 Season

NEW YORK (March 21, 2025) – The reigning WNBA Champion New York Liberty has re-signed guard Marine Johannès.
“It is a special opportunity to add Marine – who believed in our vision since 2019 – to a team once again competing for a title,” said Jonathan Kolb, New York Liberty General Manager. “Marine’s floor spacing and dynamic ability to create scoring opportunities for herself and others will add another dimension to our offense in 2025.”
Johannès (30), a 5-10 combo guard, has previously played three seasons with New York in 2019, 2022, and 2023 where she helped the Liberty reach its first Finals in over 20 years. This past summer, Johannès led the French National Team to a Silver medal finish against Team USA in the 2024 Paris Games.
Across 78 WNBA regular season contests, 15 of which she started, Marine has averaged 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.6 rebounds per game on 43.7% shooting from the field, 39.5% from three, and 80.6% at the free throw line. Currently, with Çimsa ÇBK Mersin in Turkey, Johannès is averaging 13.6 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.5 boards on a combined 46.7% shooting, including 36.7% from distance, across KBSL and EuroLeague play.
