Sacramento Monarchs starting guard
Edna Campbell, one of the team's starting five players and an inspiration to girls and women across the country, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Campbell had a lump removed on an outpatient basis earlier this month and will begin chemotherapy treatment within the next two weeks.
Despite her diagnosis, Edna Campbell has a positive attitude and is hoping to play this summer. (Rocky Widner/WNBA Photos)

Due to her chemotherapy treatment, Campbell will start the 2002 Monarchs season on the injured-reserve list and is still an important force on the team. Edna is keeping a very positive attitude and even hopes to play this season, and with the spirit and determination we've all witnessed first-hand, she anticipates a full recovery!
