There has been no lack of overtime games in the WNBA’s 20th season.

Almost 14 percent of this year’s games have gone into overtime, eclipsing the record 11.3 percent of games which went to overtime in 2009. During this 2009 season there were a total of 25 overtime games compared to the 17 which have already happened this year with 40 percent of the schedule still remaining. At the current rate there would be 28 overtime games when the season is complete.

The Liberty have already been involved in six overtime games where they have gone an even 3-3. They are just one OT game as well as one OT win away from tying each as the WNBA records for said category. One of their overtime victories came against the then 13-2 Minnesota Lynx where they went on a 17-2 run to force overtime and got career high scoring outputs from Sugar Rodgers (30 points) and Amanda Zahui B (17 points).

These seventeen overtime games have also featured big time performances from some of the league’s best players.

Angel McCoughtry nearly recorded a rare triple-double with 27 points (7 in overtime), 10 rebounds and 9 assists in a 95-90 win over the Dallas Wings.

Tina Charles has been performing at an MVP level all season, but has saved some of her best performances for overtime games. She was just one assist shy of recording a triple-double as well with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists in a double overtime win over Atlanta.
