Celebrate Father’s Day With WNBA Dads and Daughters Week

NEW YORK, June 15, 2015 – As part of the Summer Hoops platform, the WNBA will celebrate the bonds forged between fathers and daughters through the game of basketball during WNBA Dads & Daughters Week, June 15-21.
“WNBA Dads and Daughters offers a unique and memorable experience for families, providing the opportunity to come together to watch the world’s top athletes compete at the highest level,” said WNBA President Laurel J. Richie. “I have very fond memories of enjoying the game of basketball with my dad, and I am thrilled that we are bringing the opportunity to fans across the country.”
In conjunction with Father’s Day, the WNBA aired a new LeanIn.Org campaign called #LeanInTogether that debuted during ESPN2’s tip-off doubleheader on June 14, and will continue to run throughout the season. The campaign is shattering gender stereotypes of men as leaders and women as nurturers, highlighting the benefit to women, men, and families when men Lean In for equality!
Several WNBA All-Stars and their fathers are featured in the PSA, including the Chicago Sky’s Elena Delle Donne, the Tulsa Shock’s Skylar Diggins, the Connecticut Sun’s Chiney Ogwumike, and the Los Angeles Sparks’s Nneka Ogwumike.
The WNBA and its teams will host special Dads & Daughters in-game experiences, including Father’s Day ticket packages. Teams will also host basketball clinics and player appearances along with in-arena contests. Additional information can be found on WNBA.com or via team websites.
