Liberty co-captain and perpetual fan favorite Sue Wicks will host the third Liberty Reading Zone event of the 2002 season at Barnes & Noble on July 1, 2002. Sue joins fellow Liberty players Theresa Weatherspoon and Becky Hammon, who have also helped to establish Liberty Reading Zones in Barnes & Noble bookstores in Manhattan already this summer. Sue will read Allie's Basketball Dream to youngsters at an open event to be held at the Barnes & Noble store in Park Slope, Brooklyn. All New York Liberty and reading fans are welcome.
Allie's Basketball Dream tells the story of a young girl who strives toward her goal of playing basketball, and how her friends and family help her along the way. After the story, Sue will talk about the messages of the book with the audience.
The "Read to Achieve" program is designed to show young readers the value of books and to encourage them to read on a regular basis. The Liberty Reading Zones will be featured in Barnes & Noble New York City retail locations throughout the Liberty season.
