Q: Do you keep in touch with any of your old Lynx and Dream teammates? Where are you playing in the offseason? (Dominique from Atlanta) Q: Where do you plan on playing basketball in the offseason? What will you do? (Emily from Indianapolis) Kristen: Going back to Philps was cool... I wish I could have played though, haha. But I was definitely on the sideline biting my nails because it was such a close game. I wanted Atlanta to do well, but we still had to come out with the W and thankfully we did. Going back to the Target Center was a little bit different for me. I spent three years of my life in Minneapolis, so it was strange to be on the other bench at first. As far as the fans still rooting for me, it makes you feel really great about yourself. It’s always nice to know that people appreciate you and how you play regardless of what team you’re on. It was definitely flattering. With that said, of course I still keep in contact with former teammates. I remain close to a few players from both Atlanta and Minny. Finally, the off-season... Hmmm. I don't really have any plans haha. Its day to day. I don't plan on going overseas until January. Until then, I’ll take some time off. I’ll catch up with friends and family and then get back into the swing of things come November.
Lin: Several differences.. 1 - College players are younger and have fresh legs. They don’t play year round, so you can practice them longer and harder, and they recover more quickly. 2 - College players are more impressionable and I think you can still instill better work habits. Professionals may improve their skills, but usually don’t change their basic habits. 3 - There are fewer team rituals in the pros. Most players have their own individual rituals before a game. There are fewer meals together, pros are given their per diem and they are on their on. There is a lot more freedom for pros. They are adults and are not supervised as closely as college players. 4 - In college, if you are late or miss something, it usually means wind sprints. In the pros, you are fined! 5 - In the pros, they have more input into what’s going on on the court and more feedback is asked of them. For instance, “what do you want to run?” Or, “how do you want to defend that screen?” In college, they are told more what to do. In the pros, I think their input is asked for much more. 6 - Offensive and defensive systems are much more sophisticated in the pros. It’s basketball 24-7, no classes or homework like in college. It’s all basketball in the pros.
Kristen: I think I'm adjusting quite well, it's just I haven't really been here enough to actually find a hangout spot yet. But hopefully once things quiet down a little bit in August, we'll be here for a good three weeks, so I'll hopefully find a spot then.
Allison: It takes a huge support system. I have my husband here with me, so he does a great job with my daughter while I'm in season. I think that's really the key. I have a great support system and a stable home life.
Tamika: We leave for China this week. We actually go to California first and have training camp for a little bit. The thing I'm most looking forward to obviously is representing my country. And being able to go over there and play with the players that I'm going to be playing with. I think that's going to be a lot of fun!
Tan: I played center field and left field. I don't really watch much softball right now. I enjoyed it at the time, but I stopped playing after my sophomore year of high school
Katie: My go-to move I think is maybe step back, rock the defense and then either pull-up for a jumper or go to the basket.
Tammy: I was in Turkey the last two years and I can honestly say that I did like it. The city itself is great. It was actually totally different than I thought it would be like.
Tamika: I don't really have a ritual. It kinda depends on how I feel. One of the things I do is I try to just lay down, take a nap, or at just chill for at least an hour. And I always get to the game early. I like to be the first person on the court shooting. Q: Tamika, what is your favorite spot to hang out? Do you have a favorite athlete? (Samantha from Greensburg)Tamika: My favorite spot to hang out is at my house. I don't really like being out that much. I'm not really one of those out-on-the-scene people. But I do like going to the mall. And I love eating. My favorite past athlete would have to be Alonzo Mourning. Hopefully he'll come back and play one more year. But he's still undecided. Q: Tamika, what is the strangest autograph request you have ever received? (Brett from Indianapolis)Tamika: The strangest autograph request I've ever had was a lady who had me sign her arm, then she had it tattooed.
Ebony: Football. And I just got into a bit of European soccer overseas. The Fenerbahçe team in
Tamika: I love to read and watch movies at my house. I’m on this book kick right now. But I love watching movies. And eating.
Allison: I am the most boring person when it comes to doing hair. I have tremendously curly hair, so any way that I can fight the curls back is going to be successful for me.
Tammy: I’ll probably be playing in Q: What sports do you like besides basketball? (Brett from Indianapolis) Tammy: Swimming. I grew up swimming. That’s what I did before I even got into basketball. Q: Do you have a favorite athlete? (Brett from Indianapolis) Tammy: I’m a big fan of Serena Williams. She’s a powerful player, very aggressive. She goes to work when she steps on the tennis court.
Tamika: I think I’d definitely be doing something with kids.
Khadijah: I love the WNBA. I’m excited to be here. It’s a new experience for me. I love my teammates. It’s different in ways. But I like the team that I have here in Q: Has your family seen you play like they used to follow you at NC State? (Chuck from Roanoke, Va) Khadijah: No they have not been able to come to a game, but they’ve watched me on TV.
Khadijah: I love the city. I’m still getting used to everything. I just go to Circle Centre. I went to Ruth’s Chris with my teammates one time. I didn’t know it was so expensive!
Allison: I spent time at my home in
Bernadette: I haven’t changed anything. I like it. I don’t go out too much because of the language barrier. I’ve found an African store that sells products from my home, so I’m happy with that! Ask The Fever Archive
