Houston Comets Head Coach Karleen Thompson and Tuesdae Knight Griffin, Communications Director for the Downtown YMCA, co-hosted the 2007 Chevron Jingle Bell Run and Walk on Sunday, December 9, in downtown Houston. More than 5,000 moms, dads and children participated in the Kids Fun Run, the 5-Mile Run or the 3-Mile Single & Family Walk competitions and many of them were dressed in holiday costumes to vie for various prizes.

"I really enjoyed being able to encourage all the people who make YMCA the wonderful organization it is," said Coach Thompson. "I spent a lot of time at my local YMCA when I was young, so anything I can do to give back is a privilege."

Now in its 24th year, the Jingle Bell Run and Walk raises money for the Partner’s Campaign which provides scholarships for people in need of Downtown YMCA programs.

Coach Thompson and Tuesdae Knight Griffin get the crowd excited before the race.

Two Jesters walk away with award medals for their creative holiday costumes.

Thousands of participants came out to walk or run in to support the Downtown YMCA.
