Liberty Coaching Staff Honors Mothers

Three members of the Liberty Basketball Operations Staff spent Saturday afternoon at Slamfest 3, an AAU Tournament held at Kean University in New Jersey. Assistant Coaches Monique Ambers and Lady Grooms and Assistant General Manager Jill Culbertson were there to support youth basketball and celebrate Mother's Day. To show their appreciation, they passed out Liberty colored corsages to all mothers in attendance.

"It was a great experience. The girls were excited to meet us, and the mothers in attendance were genuinely touched that we thought of them on Mother's Day," said Monique Ambers. "I was also pleased with the warm reception we received from everyone there. They're as excited as we are that the team will be in New Jersey this summer."

The players competing in the tournament were so energized by the staff being there that it prompted one coach to go so far as to tell his team they could get their pictures taken with the Liberty Staff if they won their Championship Game, and they did. The Liberty staff also presented several winning teams with their championship t-shirts.

"The team coaches and spectators who were in attendance were very impressed to see the Liberty presence at this event and we have received some great feedback," said Bob Cerrato, the Head of Garden State Basketball and organizer of the tournament.

As the Liberty continue preparations for their first season in New Jersey, this was a very exciting opportunity to connect with some of the finest youth basketball teams in the area. The Liberty encourage other teams, organizations, and individuals to learn more about the team and partnerships like the one with Garden State Basketball by contacting Matt Schulman (212-631-5738, matt.schulman@thegarden.com).
